Dane County Sheriff's deputy punched 'multiple times' by resident in Dane County Jail

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) – A Dane County Sheriff’s deputy reportedly sustained minor injuries after he was punched in the face several times by a resident in the Dane County Jail, Thursday, Sept. 9.

Authorities say the incident occurred just before 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept 9, in a housing pod of the Public Safety Building.

Records show that the deputy was able to utilize his training and restrain the man until other deputies could respond.

The suspect, Jamell D. Grant-Amos, an 18-year-old from Madison, is tentatively charged with Battery and is now being housed in the City-County Building.

Officials say that the deputy was evaluated at a local hospital and later returned to work.
