Fond du Lac Police: Suspicious package reported at Bread of Life Church ends up containing book, papers

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The City of Fond du Lac Police Department investigated a suspicious package earlier this evening.

Law enforcement was called out to the Bread of Life Church, located at 180 South Military Road, for a report of a suspicious package found on the steps leading up to the church. 

According to church personnel, the package did not have any postal markings on it and they weren't expected anything to be delivered. 

Officers arrived on scene and could see that the package was a United States Postal Service flat rate shipping box that had the word fragile written on it but no other postal markings.

Out of an abundance of caution, police blocked off the immediate area and the bomb squad was called to assist.

The Brown/Outagamie County Bomb Squad was able to determine that the package posed no threat. It contained a book and some papers.

The investigation into who left the items remains ongoing.
