KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Kyle Hayes, known by many as Carmel Bliss, a well-known drag queen in the Wisconsin LGBTQ+ community has passed away.

A GoFundMe has been started in their memory and, in the description, it says that Hayes passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 14. They were only 30 years old.

Kenosha Pride released a statement Saturday, July 19 about the passing of the beloved drag queen.

Hayes was a former title holder for Miss Kenosha Pride back in 2023 and has gone on to win Miss Club Icon in 2024. Hayes even made history as being one of the first bearded drag performers to compete at the state level.

In a statement released by Milwaukee Pride, community leader Montell Ross shared some words over the passing of Hayes.

"Carmel Bliss was a bliss of love, joy and pure happiness each time I came in contact with her. She is someone that will go down in history as one of the most important figures in our drag community based on her integrity that was known on and off the stage. Carmel/Kyle passing will be a tremendous lost to the drag and queer community. What Carmel provided to the community couldn't be taught or explained, it was a natural gift that we will all be forever grateful for, Rest in power."
