MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee County and city leaders have proclaimed Monday, Feb. 23 as Fred Usinger Day, marking more than 140 years of the company’s history in the community.

The 19th annual celebration will run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Old German Beer Hall where one free Usinger sausage will be given to each person while supplies last.

Organizers say the custom bratwurst is made with Hofbräu Dunkel lager and applewood smoked bacon.

At 6 p.m., Fredrick "Fritz" Usinger IV is scheduled to tap a wooden keg of Hofbräu Munich beer, with free samples available while the keg lasts. Live music is planned from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and again from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Usinger retail store across the street will also offer specials for the event, according to organizers.
