Governor Evers orders flags to half-staff in honor of fallen officer Matthew Rittner

MADISON (CBS 58) -- Governor Tony Evers ordered the flags of the United States and the State of Wisconsin to be flown at half-staff in honor of Officer Matthew Rittner.

The 17-year police veteran was shot as members of Milwaukee's Tactical Enforcement Unit served a search warrant on someone suspected of illegally selling firearms and drugs

"Kathy and I send our thoughts and sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Officer Matthew Rittner, the entire Milwaukee Police Department, and the people of Milwaukee as they mourn this tragedy," Governor Evers said. "This loss is also a reminder that men and women like Matthew put their lives on the line every day to protect our citizens and communities in Wisconsin. We are grateful for their bravery and call to service.”
