It’s a consensus, four groundhogs predict an early Spring this year

MILWAUKEE, WI (CBS 58) -- Despite the Polar Vortex and subzero temperatures, Gordy the Groundhog today predicted the arrival of an early spring this year.    The Milwaukee County Zoo’s newest groundhog did not see his shadow when he emerged from his burrow.

The legend is that if the groundhog sees his shadow on February 2, winter will last six more weeks.   If he does NOT see his shadow, spring will be early this year.

Fellow rodent forecasters, Punxsutawney Phil, Racine Zoo’s Sunny and Jimmy the Groundhog of Sun Prairie, also failed to see their shadows, backing up Gordy’s prediction of an early spring in 2019.
