Milwaukee's Oriental Theater set to reopen August 20

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- One of Milwaukee's most beloved movie showplaces is ready to reopen.

The Oriental Theater on the east side will welcome moviegoers back on Friday, Aug. 20.

The ornate theater shut down in the spring of last year because of the pandemic.

It's run by Milwaukee Film, and their statement Monday says during the shutdown, more restoration was done on a theater that first opened its doors in 1927.

The Oriental will reopen with an exclusive showing of award winning film, "Coda."

Tickets for the reopening go on sale Aug. 12.
