Patrick settling into IndyCar, still needs work in traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Danica Patrick says she feels more comfortable on her second day driving around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's historic 2.5-mile oval.

Patrick participated in a closed engine manufacturer's test Wednesday one day after passing a refresher course.

Speeds were not announced. And Patrick says she ran in no traffic.

But Patrick also sounded more confident than she did Tuesday.

The "heavy steering" she sensed on her first day back in an IndyCar since the end of the 2011 season dissipated. So did the anxiety.

Instead, Patrick was more relaxed in the driver's seat and says she got the car up to full speed in just a couple of laps.
