WAUKESHA COUNTY (CBS 58) – A 21-year-old Pewaukee man is facing charges in connection to a gas station robbery.
According to a criminal complaint, Collin Kane is charged with armed robbery and felony bail jumping.
Authorities say Kane is a regular customer at the gas station. On January 3, he came into the store around 6:15 p.m. According to court documents, he went up to the counter and asked for cigarettes. He then proceeded to tell the employee at the counter that he was going to rob her.
The employee says Kane reached toward his waistband and she pressed the panic button. Once Kane realized the employee had pressed the button, he left the store with the pack of cigarettes.
On January 8, Kane turned himself in to the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department. Kane told authorities he was dealing with the death of his girlfriend and wanted to commit suicide, according to a criminal complaint. He says he decided to rob the store to get money to commit suicide.
If convicted of both charges, Kane faces up to 46 years in prison and up to $110,000 in fines.
