Scammer contacted Waukesha woman on Instagram, asked her to drop off briefcase containing $350,000

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Waukesha Police are currently investigating a scam after a woman was targeted over Instagram.

According to the woman, a man on Instagram contacted her and asked her to pick up a briefcase containing $350,000 and take it to the Wells Fargo in San Francisco. The scammer told the woman that she would just have to pay him $5,000 first to pick up the briefcase and then after she dropped it off, he said he would pay her 30% of what was inside. 

The woman who was contacted did not make any payments to the man.

She was advised it was a scam and that she should block and cease contact with him.

The investigation remains ongoing.
