Teen arrested for theft after relative recognizes stolen car

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Madison teen was arrested for auto theft after a woman who was driving around town spotted a stolen car that belonged to her father-in-law.

The State Journal reports that incident happened about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The woman saw a parked car that she thought looked familiar. When she got closer she realized it was the vehicle that had been stolen on Feb. 28.

Once the suspect got in the car and drove off, she followed him and called police. The 17-year-old youth stopped the car and started walking away when police arrived and took him into custody.

The suspect, of Madison, was tentatively charged with auto theft and felony bail jumping.
