Unloaded pellet pistol found in locker at West Milwaukee Intermediate School

WEST MILWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An unloaded pellet pistol was found in a locker at the West Milwaukee Intermediate School Thursday afternoon.

Students reported to a teacher that a fellow student had a weapon in their locker. 

School officials searched the locker and confiscated the unloaded pellet pistol.

The West Allis-West Milwaukee School District issued a statement which said in part:

"Please be reminded that the safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance to us. We will continue to pursue all legal and school consequences related to these types of incidents.

As always, we encourage parents to talk with their children about the importance of helping us maintain a safe school environment. We applaud the students that came forward alert their teacher about an potentially unsafe situation.

We believe this incident is not reflective of the student body or the positive behaviors and relationships that are fostered in our schools."

The West Milwaukee Police were contacted regarding this incident.
