'We are getting to be connoisseurs of postseason material'; Brewers fans add to their collection of playoff gear
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Brewers clinched the playoffs on Saturday, Sept. 18. It's the fourth time in four years the team has seen the postseason.
"It's the first time in franchise history," said Teddy Werner, Sr. Vice President of Brand Experience for the Brewers. "Fans are excited."
Fans were at the Brewers Team Store ahead of the Monday night game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
"We are getting to be connoisseurs of postseason material," said Patti Wisniewski as she picked up a "Built for October" playoff t-shirt. "So far this one’s my favorite from the last three that we’ve had."
Wisniewski was picking up the shirt for her son.
"I’m trying to hold out for the division champs shirt myself," she said. "Hopefully tomorrow when we’re here, we'll be picking up more merch."
The Brewers need to beat the Cardinals in the next two games to clinch the National League Central Division. It's an exciting time to be a Wisconsin sports fan in general. As many still ride the wave of the Bucks NBA championship, they're now cheering on the Brew Crew.
"They got to do it like the Bucks did it," said Renee Rusch. "We got to get there. We’ll get there slowly but surely."
Rusch was at American Family Field buying tickets for the game Monday night. She's hoping to get a chance to watch the Brewers clinch the NL Central Division at the ballpark.
NL Central Division gear could hit the shelves as soon as Wednesday, but more playoff apparel will hit the shelves tonight, Monday, Sept. 20.
"Stuff from Nike that is also postseason related, some hoodies and t-shirts that the players will be wearing once they get into the postseason," said Werner. "And then when we clinch the National League Central Division, we'll get some additional t-shirts and a couple of hats."
That stuff will only be available exclusively at the Brewers Team Store. Werner says the team's new postseason slogan will also be coming out soon.
