Wisconsin police chase student with gun

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Police are investigating why a student brought a gun to Sun Prairie High School.

The Sun Prairie Police Department posted a news release saying a staff member at the school told the principal Monday morning that a 17-year-old male student had brought a handgun to school.

The principal reported the student to the school's police liaison officer. When the officer tried to speak to the student the student fled from the school into nearby neighborhoods. Police eventually captured him and recovered the gun.

The news release says the student hadn't made any threats to staff or other students.
