SOUTH MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- South Milwaukee Police sent out a press release that they were called to an apartment building near 5th Avenue and Clark Avenue around 9:30 a.m. Friday.
When officers arrived they found a 62-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds. Lifesaving efforts were performed but the woman died at the scene.
A 31-year-old man was arrested near the scene.
Police are investigating the relationship between the victim and the suspect and the circumstances that led to the incident.
South Milwaukee School District's Lakeview School was used as a landing zone for Flight For Life.

SOUTH MILWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- South Milwaukee Police were called to an apartment building near 5th Avenue and Clark Avenue around 9:30 Friday morning for a stabbing.
The South Milwaukee Police Chief spoke to a CBS 58 reporter on scene who confirmed that a woman in her 60s was fatally stabbed by a man in his 30s. The victim and suspect were known to each other.
Flight For Life was called to the scene but then canceled as the woman died on scene.
The suspect has been arrested.
A neighbor said that nearby Lake View Elementary School notified parents that there was an emergency off school grounds.
