Wrong way driver causes two-vehicle crash in Kenosha County

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department is currently investigating a two-vehicle crash caused by a reckless driver.

It happened around 11 a.m. on Sunday in the 20000 block of Highway 50.

According to the Sheriff's Department, a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze was reportedly driving recklessly and traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 50 prior to the crash happening.

it was determined the Chevrolet Cruze was being driven eastbound in the westbound traffic lanes of Highway 50 when it initially struck a 2017 Ford F150 in the 20000 block of Highway 50. The two adult occupants of the Ford F150 were not hurt.

The Chevrolet Cruze failed to stop after the collision and continued traveling east in the westbound lanes of Highway 50.

In the 19600 block of Highway 50, the Chevrolet Cruze struck a 2008 Chevrolet Traverse that had just completed a left turn from the median to travel west on Highway 50. The Chevrolet Traverse rolled over onto its side and the four occupants, two adults and two children, reported no injuries.

The 25-year-old driver of the Chevrolet Cruze was taken into custody.

He faces multiple charges including OWI 2nd Offense, Hit and Run, Reckless Driving, and Driving the Wrong Way on a Divided Highway.

The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department reminds drivers to always drive safe and to report any suspicious erratic driving they observe.
