After reports of overheating, Instant Pot warning users to stop using product

(CBS 58) – Instant Pot is telling users of one of its products to stop using it because it could overheat.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the company says they’ve received a number of reports that its GEM 65 8-in-1 Multicooker overheats, resulting in some melting damage to the bottom of the cooker.

Instant Pot says they believe the problem only affects certain batchcodes. The 4-digit batchcodes are found in the bottom right of the silver label on the underside of the product.

The batchcodes believed to be affected are 1728, 1730, 1731, 1734, and 1746.

In the post, the company says they anticipate providing updated information and next steps regarding receiving a replacement Gem 65 8-in-1 Multicooker within the next few weeks. In the meantime, Instant Pot is telling users with affected batchcodes not to use the product.

They say those with questions should contact their Customer Care Team at 1-800-828-7280 x2.
