Boat goes up in flames at pier in Fontana

FONTANA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Fontana Fire Department in Walworth County responded to a call around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning that a boat at the public boat launch was on fire. When firefighters arrived the 21-foot boat was engulfed in flames.

The boat was a complete loss, but since it was an older boat the total damages are only around $3,000. The pier suffered about $4,000 worth of damage.

There were four people from Illinois on the boat at the time of the fire, but no one was injured. The group had just filled the boat with gas when the fire started.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
