TOWN OF FRANKLIN, Wis. (AP) -- Authorities have identified a man who was shot and killed by a sheriff's deputy in Kewaunee County.
Deputies responded to a call of a man threatening a woman and others with a knife in a rural area on Monday night.
The sheriff's office says 22-year-old suspect Tyler Whitmire was shot by a deputy when he confronted authorities, and pronounced dead at the scene.
The deputy hasn't been named. The officer has been placed on standard administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

KEWAUNEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Shortly after 8:00 Monday night, the Kewaunee County Sheriff's Department was called to an incident in the Township of Franklin. Franklin is about a half an hour southeast of Green Bay.
The situation resulted with an officer discharging a weapon, killing the suspect. That officer was not hurt.
According to department policy, the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation has been contacted and will lead the investigation.
No names will be released at this time, however, a news conference is expected at 9:00 Tuesday morning.
