Inaugural 'WALK THE HOAN' event slated for Saturday, Oct. 5

WALK THE HOAN, Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A new event kicking off this fall will give participants a chance to experience Milwaukee's skyline in a new way.

Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon officials announced WALK THE HOAN will take place Saturday, Oct. 5, at 10:30 a.m.

Those who take part will get to take a run or walk over the iconic Hoan Bridge while joining the fight against cancer.

“Partnering with a local cancer-fighting organization makes WALK THE HOAN even more impactful” said Scott Stauske, race director of Milwaukee’s Lakefront Marathon. “We all have a reason to hate cancer, and now we can join in that fight, all while enjoying the beauty Milwaukee offers.”

Registration for WALK THE HOAN is now open and is $35 per participant, including an official race T-shirt. The remaining proceeds will benefit This Time Tomorrow Foundation, providing financial support to individuals and families fighting all forms of cancer.

Officials say the Milwaukee Lakefront 5K will also move to Oct. 5, with both events starting and ending at Urban Park.

The half and full marathons will take place Sunday, Oct. 6.
