CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A man was taken into custody early Monday, March 24 after allegedly leading police on a pursuit through multiple municipalities in Milwaukee County.

Cudahy police say the situation began around 3:42 a.m. when an officer stopped a car near the area of Barnard and Kirkwood for a registration violation. Officers claim to have smelled illegal narcotics and asked the driver to exit the vehicle, but officials say he refused and fled the scene.

The pursuit extended through Cudahy, South Milwaukee, St. Francis and Milwaukee before officers conducted a high-risk stop using tire deflation devices, disabling the car.

The driver, a 28-year-old convicted felon, was arrested near the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus. No injuries were reported.

Police say they recovered evidence that is consistent with drug trafficking, and that he also has previously been convicted for fleeing and evading police.

Charges are expected to be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office.
