Matthew Gonzalez, his friends call him Matty, was finally back on U.S. soil Friday.
He spent the last 9 weeks in jail in Abu Dhabi because of a misunderstanding about his prescription drugs.
His family says Gonzalez was there for work, but didn't have proper documentation for his prescription painkillers.
He was arrested on April 16th.
Since then his family has been fighting for his release.
They were hoping to have him home before this weekend, so he can attend his mother's funeral.
His nephew says he's grateful to have his uncle back.
