Mitchell International Airport prepares for holiday travel
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --- Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport is gearing up for its busiest travel weekend since Labor Day and they are taking steps to make sure everyone stay safe while traveling for Thanksgiving during the pandemic.
The first thing you need to remember is to have a face covering on and if you don't have one, they are available for free at the information desk.
Airport officials are also encouraging everyone to check in on their phones to reduce contact. They have also set up markers throughout the airport to encourage social distancing. Crews are constantly cleaning the airport, including high touch areas.
Airport officials say they have also taken strides to make many things touchless throughout the airport.
“The water bottle stations are touch less. The bathrooms have always been touch less, so they’re all automated so you don’t have to touch anything there. We have the MKE SmartPark app for parking so you can book your parking right with the app so again you’re Only touching your phone and you’re not touching any of the other surfaces,” Stephanie Staudinger of Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport said.
Airport officials are still recommending that you arrive tow hours before your flight to allow enough time to get through TSA.
