Milwaukee's Judiciary and Legislative Committee passed a resolution Monday that will reach a settlement worth 2.3 million dollars, between the city and the family of Dontre Hamilton.
Hamilton was shot and killed by former MPD officer Christopher Manney in 2014 at Red Arrow Park.
The Hamilton's have been negotiating with the city on a settlement after appealing a judge's decision to their federal civil rights lawsuit.
There are a few more steps that have to happen before this is final.
It will first go to the common council for vote next week.
If approved by the common council there's a ten day period of time that the mayor could veto the decision, meaning the final word won't be until mid-June.
