71-year-old woman dead after fire in Kenosha

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Kenosha Fire Department released additional details about a Sunday, Jan. 21 fire in a report released on Tuesday, Jan. 23.
In the report, KFD notes that they responded to a severe fire near 32nd and 43rd at 1:57 pm. Upon arrival, they encountered a large structure fire with visible flames from both floors.
Reports indicated people trapped inside, which led KFD to begin an immediate search, rescue and fire suppression operation.
One occupant, assisted by a neighbor to the front porch prior to KFD's arrival, was reportedly critically injured and transported to a local hospital. The neighbor received on-scene treatment and was released.
A second occupant was found inside and pronounced dead at the scene. Kenosha police told CBS 58 that the victim was a 71-year-old woman.
The fire was controlled within 20 minutes, with neighboring fire departments assisting in coverage.
KFD says that they are still actively investigating the fire, with preliminary indications suggesting accidental causes.

Another person is in critical condition.
According to the fire department, there is substantial damage to the home, and the cause of fire is under investigation.
