One dead, two injured after vehicle goes through median hitting car on I-41

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Just after 11 a.m. the Washington County Sheriff's Office was called to a serious crash on I-41 north near Canary Lane in Wayne. 911 calls came in saying one car was on fire, other people were trapped in a second car and a bystander was doing CPR on someone laying on the side of the road.

When Deputies arrived the car fire had been put out by a passerby with a fire extinguisher and CPR was actively being done on a man laying on the side of the road. Two women were still in the second car but the driver was trapped and needed to be extricated. 

Witnesses said a vehicle driving south crossed the median and hit the car going north. The driver of the vehicle going south was ejected. 

The driver of the vehicle that crossed the median was pronounced dead at the scene. Both women in the northbound car were taken to Froedtert Hospital. The driver was taken by Flight for Life with serious injuries.
