MILWAUKEE, WI (CBS 58) – Authorities are still looking for suspects in a deadly shooting on the city’s south side.
CBS 58 spoke with friends of the victim who say his art is well known in the community.
Police have identified the victim as 29-year-old Alaign Lovaco-Viniegra. According to police, Lovaco-Viniergra lost his life after a fight turned deadly.
It all happened early Thursday morning just after one.
Police say Lovaco-Viniegra was shot then taken to the hospital but he died moments later.
Friends like Andre Colbert and Josh Ebert say they’re still trying to take in the loss of their friend whom they referred to as ‘Gets’ for his go-getter attitude.
They say his passion was his art and his work.
While flowers and candles now decorate the area of the scene, they say there’s still a lasting impression the young artist has left within the community.
“He did a bunch of murals,” says Colbert. “A lot of them with the Walkers point Creative Collective. We always called him “gets-it-done” because he was always the one who was putting gin the long hours”.
“We’re definitely going to be memorializing him as a persona with a mural at some point in some place,” says friend, Josh Ebert.
Milwaukee Police are still seeking suspects in this ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Milwaukee Police Department.
