Racine Police investigating fatal shooting of 18-year-old

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Vyshonn Avitia.

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Racine Police Department is investigating the homicide of an 18-year-old man.

Police were called to the 1900 block of Prospect shortly before 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening for a report of a shooting.

Neighbors reported hearing gunshots in the area.

Upon arrival, officers located an 18-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Citizens are asked to avoid the area while Racine Police continue their investigation.

More information regarding the shooting is expected on Thursday.
