Salmonella outbreak linked to basil sold at Trader Joe's sickens 12 people, including 1 in Wisconsin

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is warning the public about a salmonella outbreak linked to potentially contaminated basil sold at Trader Joe's.

The CDC says the basil was sold at Trader Joe's stores in 29 states, including Wisconsin and sickened 12 people -- including one case in Wisconsin.

Trader Joe's has pulled the product from the shelves, and it is no longer available for purchase.

According to the CDC, seven sick people purchased or likely purchased Infinite Herbs organic basil in 2.5 oz clamshell-style containers sold from Trader Joe’s.

The CDC advises you throw the package away or return it to Trader Joe's.
