Summerfest partnering with MCTS for convenient transit options

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Summerfest and the Milwaukee County Transit System have announced three transit options for festivalgoers during the Summerfest's 55th anniversary.

Attendees can choose from two special MCTS shuttles, the new Bus Rapid Transit line, or MCTS's everyday bus routes, all stopping at or within walking distance of Henry Maier Festival Park, home to Summerfest.

The two cashless MCTS shuttles run every half hour from the College Avenue or Brown Deer Park and Ride lot, providing non-stop, direct access to the festival grounds. Round-trip fares range from $5 to $10, depending on the rider's age and eligibility for reduced fares.

The new CONNECT 1 BRT line aims to offer an eco-friendly ride from Wauwatosa's Watertown Plank Road Park and Ride lot to downtown Milwaukee, with service every 10 - 15 minutes. Fares range from $1 to $2, depending on the rider's age and eligibility for reduced fares.

Several MCTS local routes are also within walking distance of Summerfest, with fares ranging from $1 to $2.
