128th spokesperson tells CBS 58 News that a charger failed for the plane's battery failed, causing smoke and fumes in the flight deck.
The air crew was able to land safely and no one was injured.
In recent years we have seen this scenario before with several in flight emergencies, most notably in May and June of 2013.
Although the cause varies, the planes always landed safely thanks to the training of the crew and there were no injuries.
The age of the aircraft has often been the topic of conversation with most of the planes dating to the Eisenhower administration.
