Racine firefighter injured battling house fire
Firefighters responded to a call at a home on 6th Street near Riverside Drive around 7:00 PM Saturday night after receiving multiple 911 calls stating that dark smoke and fire was showing from the home.
The Racine Fire Department said that the first crews arrived on scene within 3 minutes and quickly extinguished the exterior fire before making an interior attack.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury. He was treated and released from the hospital.
The majority of the fire damage was contained to the first floor with exterior fire damage extending to the roof.
No one was home at the time of the fire.
Red Cross will be housing the residents until after Christmas.
There was an estimated $25,000 worth of damage to the house and $7,000 worth of damage to the contents in the home.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
