Vacant House Damage by Early Morning Fire
An observant neighbor and a quick response limited the amount of fire damage to a vacant home on Milwaukee’s north side this morning. The fire was reported around 1:45 AM in a home near N 4th Street and W Vienna Avenue. According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, the fire was confined to the basement of the unoccupied rental house and damage is estimated at 25-thousand dollars. The cause of the fire is undetermined but there was a report of a power outage in the neighborhood at the time the fire was discovered. According to the MFD, a neighbor was up because of the power outage, spotted smoke coming from the building and called the Fire Department. Milwaukee Police officers who were nearby, responded to the call and were able to rescue a cat from the first floor of the house.
