Box of Human Blood Found on a Road in Madison

A box of human blood was found the in the road in Madison on Sunday, according to Madison Police.

Sunday afternoon, a 68-year-old Stoughton man came upon a large box, smack-dab in the middle of Zeirer Rd.

According to a release by police, it was clearly marked: "HUMAN BLOOD."
 
The man motioned for aide from a Madison Police Department Officer.

The citizen lowered his window and "motioned for me to do the same," recounted the officer. The man yelled he had just found a "big box of blood, human blood."
 
The officer suggested they pull into a nearby parking lot to discuss the find in more detail. The officer noted it was box of many labels; however, "It was clear that it belonged to the American Red Cross."
 
He made some phone calls and was directed to deliver the donated blood to the agency's Sheboygan Ave. location.
 
A lab technician told the officer they had just received blood from a satellite location. They were expecting six boxes, but only got five.
 
The lab tech, having seen what was in the trunk of the police squad, speculated a volunteer likely loaded five and inadvertently left one on the car.
