Grafton School District Emails Parents About Superintendent's Resignation
Grafton School’s District’s Superintendent resigned on Monday effective at the end of this school year.
The school district sent an email to parents of the district on Monday stating the Board of Education asked for the resignation of Dr. Lightner.
In the statement, the board said the accepted the resignation after Lightner offered it.
According to the statement to parents, the resignation involved a severance agreement that ends a multiple year contract that he currently has with the District.
The severance package includes one year of pay and one year of insurance. This severance agreement is effective immediately and Dr. Lightner will not be with the District for the remainder of the school year.
“The Board is in the process of commencing a search for Dr. Lightner’s replacement. Much has transpired since the last Board meeting on April 25 and we will continue to work swiftly on all matters currently before the Board,” wrote the board in the statement.
