One of CBS 58’s two-person reporting crews was attacked while covering the BP Gas station fire.
Cameras and our satellite backpacks that allow us to go live were stolen when a crowd of a dozen people physically attacked our team. One of them had to be taken to the hospital for evaluation, but was released early this morning.
The BP Gas Station was destroyed along with several other local businesses by fires that were set by demonstrators upset about an officer-involved shooting.
Demonstrators were captured on video pulling down light poles, throwing bricks at officers and squad cars, setting squad cars on fire, and dancing in the streets.
Milwaukee Fire Department was called to 74 fires between Friday and Saturday morning.
