Therapy Dogs Help Ease Tension of Test Taking at Marquette University

Milwaukee -

Mid terms are upon us and Marquette University is offering students a puppy break!

Puppies were on the second floor lobby of the Alumni Memorial Union Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The Marquette Counseling Center is bringing them in as a relaxation device and stress reliever with the start of mid-terms tomorrow.

The dog trainers say they see a benefit to both the dogs and the students.

"They get very excited, their mouth gets wide," said Laura Hey of "Health Heelers" Therapy Dogs. "Their eyes get wide and they just get real excited to meet them. Or we see them see the therapy animals and just relax."

For some students it brought a comfort of home.

"I just love dogs," declared Marquette Freshman Marta Gullickson. "I'm actually waiting to go home and see my dogs, so this is helping me cope with missing my dog right now."
