Body Found in Milwaukee Creek
UPDATE: Milwaukee police are investigating a body found Thursday morning in a creek near 100th Street and Hampton Avenue. The location is very close to the Wauwatosa border.
Wauwatosa police tell CBS 58's Jessica Tighe it looks like the man who was found dead is the same man they were searching for Wednesday night.
CBS 58 was at the scene as investigators searched the area around the Fountain Apartments in Wauwatosa. Police responded to a call about a man who was violating a restraining order. That man was out on bail on a felony stalking case. He had just been released a few days ago.
When police got to the apartments Wednesday night, they found the man, but he ran off. Officers chased him, but they lost him near the creek along Hampton Avenue.
Officers searched for the man for hours. It was an extensive search including the Wauwatosa Police Department, Milwaukee Police Department, Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, and K-9s. They didn't find him and eventually cleared the scene.
After the call about a body found Thursday morning, investigators returned to the creek. They took pictures and collected evidence. Then the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's office removed the body.
Police say there was no foul play. We do know it was cold last night and the man was found in the water. The Medical Examiner's Office will look into many factors, including whether weather might be to blame.
