Medical emergency leads to head-on collision with ambulance
Two people were injured when a car and a private ambulance collided head-on at the intersection of N 29th Street and W Capitol Drive late Wednesday night. According to the Milwaukee Police, the 51-year-old driver of the car, which was east bound on Capitol Drive around 11:30 PM, experienced a medical emergency causing him to veer into the path of the west bound Medicare Ambulance. The collision resulted in the ambulance catching fire, but the driver, a 40-year-old woman and lone occupant of the ambulance, was able to get out of the vehicle safely. She was taken to a local hospital, treated for minor injuries and then released. A good Samaritan driving by at the time of the accident, took the male driver of the car to a local hospital for medical treatment. His condition is not known at this time. There were no other passengers in either vehicle.
