1 dead, 1 injured in Kenosha Co. crash New Year's Day

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- One person is dead and another is injured in a crash in the village of Somers early morning on Saturday, Jan. 1.

It happened just before 2 a.m. near 4th St. and Sheridan Rd. 

According to the Kenosha County Sgt. David Wright, the driver of a 2004 Chevy Impala was speeding when he lost control of the vehicle. The Impala rolled over on its roof and landed on the drivers side after striking a utility pole. The 26-year-old Franksville man driving was partially ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. 

Detectives on scene, a front seat passenger of the Impala, a 40-year-old man from Kenosha, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending proper notification.

The vehicle sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene.
