MILWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Police are investigating a Sunday afternoon shooting in a Family Dollar parking lot where a 16-year-old male was seriously wounded.
Milwaukee Police say the shooting happened in the Family Dollar parking lot near N 27th Street and W Kilbourn Avenue around 12:40 p.m. Sunday. The shooting victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. Tina Padilla works across the street. She said she heard four gun shots.
"I have kids his age so it's pretty sad. Milwaukee's getting pretty bad. It's pretty scary to think it could be my kid," Tina Padilla said.
Many residents said while they hear gun shots in the area often, they were surprised to see a shooting happen in broad daylight in front of a busy store.
"Sunday afternoon, just came from church and you can't even go to Family Dollar anymore. It's really, it's really sad," Percy Davis III said.
For nearby resident Davis, it's shootings like these that make him want to move him and his family out of the area.
"It's devastating. I really don't know what else to say, I gotta go, I have to leave," Davis said.
Milwaukee Police are seeking a suspect.
