Military flyover, extra giveaways highlight Packers last game of the season
GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Lambeau Field is ready for Sunday’s game between the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions, the Packers’ last game of the season.
Sunday’s Fan Appreciation Game will celebrate Packers fans’ dedication with extra game giveaways and special promotions.
During halftime, Chevrolet, will choose one lucky fan to win a brand new Chevrolet vehicle through an on-field contest. The contest winner will be among a group of six preselected Chevrolet sweepstakes finalists.
Additional giveaways for fans will include Ariens Sno-thros, Johnsonville Sizzling Sausage grills and a Cenex gift card. All fans entering Sunday’s game will receive Packers 2019 New Year’s Glasses.
Sunday’s game tickets feature a photograph from Paul Kolbach of Green Bay, the winner of the Packers Ticket Takeover Contest. Kolbach’s photo featured his mother-in-law, Pat, and family friend, Chet, posing for a photo and displaying their life-long love for the Packers. The photo was chosen after more than 70,000 votes in the contest, and as part of the grand prize, Kolbach and his family received tickets to the game.
During the game, the Packers will be honoring the 2018 Wisconsin Football Coaches Association/Packers High School Football Coach of the Year, Ken Krause of Muskego High School.
The pregame festivities will also honor Jaxon Louis from Richland Center, Wis., as the “Shopko Kick-Off Kid.” After being diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor at age 7, he received a backyard whiffle ball field through the Make-a-Wish Foundation and began hosting whiffle ball tournaments to raise money for GRACE, a local cancer charity, to help those in his community battling cancer.
Prior to the national anthem, the Packers and WPS Health Solutions will recognize 100-year-old Baldwin, Wis., native Eugene Nordby and his family and friends through Operation Fan Mail on the field. The national anthem will be performed by local singer Maggie Arrozal, and a flyover will be performed by a KC-135R Aerial Refueling Aircraft, flown by aircrew attached to the 128th Aerial Refueling Wing, based in Milwaukee.
The organization is reminding game attendees that no bags or purses are allowed inside Lambeau Field unless they are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and are no larger than 12” by 6” by 12”. All fans entering Lambeau Field on gamedays will use walk-through metal detectors. The Johnsonville Tailgate Village, along with the parking lots, will open at 8 a.m. for ticketed and non-ticketed guests alike and will feature live music, food, beverages and a festive tailgating atmosphere.
The Lambeau Field Atrium, including 1919 Kitchen & Tap, the Packers Hall of Fame and Packers Pro Shop will be open to ticketed guests only beginning at 8 a.m., and stadium gates will open at 10 a.m.
