Milwaukee Police: Suspect shot at after attempting to break into garage, attacking victim

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a burglary that ended in shots being fired.

Police responded to a burglary report near 11th and Walker shortly before 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the victim heard a noise near their garage. When they went to investigate, they allegedly saw a suspect attempting to pry open the garage door with a crowbar.

Police say the suspect then attempted to attack the victim at which time the victim shot at the suspect.

The suspect fled on foot.

It's unknown if the suspect was struck by gunfire.

The investigation remains ongoing.
