Police officer cooks dinner for elderly man low on food

CUMBERLAND, Maine — (CNN/WMTW)

A Cumberland police officer went above and beyond to help an elderly resident.

A post on the department's Facebook page said Sgt. Thomas Burgess checked on an elderly resident on Tuesday and discovered he was low on food and hadn't eaten.

Burgess delivered the resident some food from the town's food pantry and cooked him dinner.

"Thank you for everything you do Sergeant, day in and day out to make our community a better place to live," the post said
