Sheboygan man files lawsuit after he says he was fired from city job because he's white

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Sheboygan man has filed a lawsuit, claiming racial discrimination. The man says he was fired because he's white.

Tyler Jones was a maintenance worker for the City of Sheboygan.

According to court documents, Jones was fired after an accident. His garbage truck was hit by another truck driven by an African-American co-worker.

Jones claims he was ordered to take a drug test and that the other worker was not ordered to do so.

Jone's attorney says he's trying to get his job back.

"Reinstatement of his position, back pay, wages lost while he's been off work, and his stautory attorney fees. Of course, something for compensatory damages or what we call pain and suffering or emotional distress," said Janet Heins with Heins Employment Law Practice, LLC.

Jones says his drug test was negative but he was still fired while the other worker kept his job.
