BROOKFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Surveillance video caught a man stealing a donation jar from two stores in Brown Deer and Brookfield.

A man walked into Jet's Pizza in Brookfield Saturday and asked co-owner Maria Rodriguez for an application. He told Rodriguez that he was going to sit down and fill out the application so she went back to the kitchen.

“A minute later he's waving,” Rodriguez said. “He's like I'll just be back. I'll drop it off later.”

Surveillance video shows right before the man walked out, he snatched the donation can to benefit Alzheimer’s research from the counter.

“If he was hungry or needed money, I could have given him something instead of just taking from Alzheimer’s,” Rodriguez said.

Brown Deer Police believe the same man stole a donation jar at Firehouse Subs in Brown Deer the next day. He took the donation jar from the counter after distracting an employee.

“You have no soul if you're doing that all the time. It's sad,” Rodriguez said.

It was upsetting for employees at Jet’s Pizza because they knew the money was going to a good cause. Rodriguez says their customers fill the jar every week.

“Sometimes they want to give us tips and I always tell them just put it in the can,” Rodriguez said.

Now, Rodriguez hopes spreading the word will help stop the thief from taking any more money meant to help others. If you have any information, call Brown Deer Police.
