Watching a system Friday that could bring a mix of rain and snow

We are watching a system for Friday across southeastern Wisconsin.  The models have shifted this system a little further north over the last several days.  With that being said, the overall winter impact looks to be minimal for our area.

The wind on Friday will be off the water.  Lake Michigan water temperatures are running in the 40s, so lakeside areas will likely remain rain as the lake will modify the airmass.  The further west and southwest we will expect a mix of rain changing over to snow.  Surface temperatures will be in the upper 30s, so any precipitation shouldn't impact roads.

As the system departs late Friday night, some light snow will be possible as the winds shift away from the lake.  Minor snow accumulations are expected.

The track could vary, and that will determine how far north the precipitation will go.  Right now, the best chance for precipitation will be along and south of I-94.

We will continue to update this as the new model runs come in.
