MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Amtrak is upgrading its passenger service between Milwaukee and Chicago.
Thursday morning it unveiled its new Midwest Charger locomotive at the Intermodal Station. Amtrak says locomotives will make the commute to and from Chicago faster and the ride smoother.
"These are more reliable, they're capable of higher speeds and they get better mileage than the locomotives they replace. And, they reduce the amount of emissions coming out. They are much cleaner locomotives." says Amtrak spokesman Mark Magliari.
Amtrak is also bringing back its popular $5 late night Friday fares. The deal runs the weekend after Thanksgiving and the first weekend of December.
