TOWN OF OCONOMOWOC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Waukesha County Medical Examiner along with Town of Oconomowoc Police have been able to identify a body found floating in Okauchee Lake a year later.
The body was found floating in the lake on October 26, 2017.
The body was identified through DNA testing after a sample was obtained through an immediate family member. The ME determined the body is 31-year-old Thomas Engel who was reported missing after a boating incident on June 17, 1996.
Authorities say the lake provided the body with conditions where it was able to be preserved including water depth, cold temperatures and lack of oxygen.
