Car leaving parking garage hits, kills man in downtown Madison, police say

MADISON, Wis. (WISC) -- A Madison-area man is dead following a crash outside of a Madison parking garage late Monday night, according to officials.

Officers with the Madison Police Department were called to the 10 block of North Fairchild Street around 10:50 p.m. on Monday.

A 30-year-old male driver called 911 to report that he had struck a pedestrian while leaving a parking garage on the same block.

A 53-year-old man with ties to the Madison area was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a report by the Madison Police Department.

Madison police say the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigating officers and has since been released from the scene.

The names of those involved have not yet been released.
